- A variational form for the dynamics of a classical system interacting with a quantum one is proposed as a nonlinear gen eralization of the nonrelativistic quantum theory. In addition do the relevance of this kind of problem for the calculation of nuclear models in which some degrees of freedom are treated quantum-mechanically and others classically, the equations derived in this paper are designed to describe the reduction of the wave packet.
