<dd>We study numerically the scaling behavior associated with M-furcations (M =3, 4,5) in the map &lt;math&gt;x_{t+1} =1 -a |x_t|^z(z &gt;1)\,\!&lt;/math&gt;. The scaling constants &lt;math&gt;\delta\,\!&lt;/math&gt; and &lt;math&gt;\alpha\,\!&lt;/math&gt;, as function of z, are calculated, as well as the more general scaling functions &lt;math&gt;\sigma\,\!&lt;/math&gt; and f(a).</dd>
