<dd>We investigate the solutions of Einstein field equations in a (4 + n)-dimensional spacetime generated by a multicomponent perfect fluid, assuming the existence of a compact and Ricci-flat internal space. We study the qualitative behaviour of solutions, using techniques from dynamical system theory. In this way we obtain informations about the expansion of the models, the energy density and the time variation of the gravitational 'constant', which in this theory has its own dynamics generated by the extra dimensions. Finally, exact solutions corresponding to the invariant rays of the system are obtained in arbitrary dimensions.</dd>
