- We study the consequences of inequivalent representations of a q-oscillator algebra on a quantum q-gas. As in the "fundamental" representation of the algebra, the q-gas presents the Bose-Einstein condensation phenomenum and a <math>\lambda\!\,</math>-point transition. The virial expansion and the critical temperature of condensation are very sensible to the representation chosen; instead, the discontinuity in the <math>\lambda\!\,</math>-point transition is unaffected.
