- It is shown that an octonionic version of the $M$-superalgebra can be defined. It involves only $52$ real bosonic generators instead of the $528$ of the standard $M$-superalgebra and presents a novel and surprising feature, its octonionic $M5$ (super-$5$-brane) sector coincides with the $M1$ and $M2$ sectors.
