- Generalized superymmetries going beyond the HLS scheme and admitting the presence of bosonic tensorial central charges are constructed and classified in terms of the division algebras ${\bf R}$, ${\bf C}$, ${\bf H}$ and ${\bf O}$. The eleven-dimensional $M$-algebra falls into this class of supersymmetries. Division-algebra compatible constraints can be introduced and fully classified. They can be used to construct and analyze various dynamical systems, the simplest examples being the superparticles with tensorial central charges which generalize the Rudychev-Sezgin and the Bandos-Lukierski models
