- The explicit time dependence of the behaviour of the drainage basin of a lake is an important contribution for the lake dynamics. This information can be expressed in terms of a sum of Lorentzian functions. The coefficients of the sum of Lorentzians are extrated using results of measured and/or calculated data for the state variables describing the shallow lake West Lake, Hangzou. This procedure can be applied also to other shallow lakes like those of the North of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and thus generating geological information about the drainage basin of the considered lake region. We conclude emphasizing the relevance of the time dependence of the drainage basin.
