- In this work the supersymmetric gauge invariant action for the massive Abelian <math>N = 1\,\!</math> super- <math>QED_{2+2}\,\!</math> in the Atiyah-Ward space-time <math>(D = 2 + 2)\,\!</math> is formulated. The questions concerning the scheme of the gauge invariance in <math>D = 2 + 2\,\!</math> by means of gauging the massive <math>N = 1\,\!</math> super- <math>QED_{2+2}\,\!</math> are investigated. We study how to ensure the gauge invariance at the expenses of the introduction of a complex vector superfield. We discuss the Wess-Zumino gauge and thereupon we conclude that in this gauge, only the imaginary part of the complex vector field, <math> B\mu\,\!</math>, gauges a <math>U(1)\,\!</math> -symmetry, whereas its real part gauges a Weyl symmetry. We build up the gauge invariant massive term by introducing four scalar superfields: a pair of chiral and a pair of anti-chiral superfields; the supermultiplets of each pair have opposite <math>U(1)\,\!</math> -charges. We carry out a dimensional reduction à la Scherk of the massive <math>N = 1\,\!</math> super- <math>QED_{2+2}\,\!</math> action from <math>D = 2 + 2\,\!</math> to<math> D = 1 + 2\,\!</math>. Truncations are needed in order to suppress unphysical modes and one ends up with a parity-preserving <math>N = 1\,\!</math> super- <math>QED_{1+2}\,\!</math> (rather than <math>N = 2\,\!</math> ) in <math>D = 1 + 2\,\!</math> which spectrum is free from tachyons and ghosts at tree-level. Finally, we show that the <math>N = 1\,\!</math> super- <math>QED_{1+2}\,\!</math> we have got is the supersymmetric version of the <math>\tau_{3}QED\,\!</math>.
