- For the stationary axially symmetric vacuum spacetime we study the functional invariance of the Ernst equation with the object of finding new solutions of this complex equation. We present two classes of solutions. The first is obtained from a three parameters $SU(1,1)$ transformation. While the second arises from the assumption that there exists a functional dependence between the real and imaginary parts of the complex Ernst potential.
