Abstract
MINERvA is an experiment that studies neutrino scattering on various nuclear targets and uses the NuMI neutrino beam at Fermilab. Results with high statistics and improved event reconstruction are obtained from the measurements performed in the experiment. This dissertation reports the muon neutrino and antineutrino di_erential cross section in the shallow inelastic scattering (SIS) region on hydrocarbon at hE_i _ 6 GeV. The SIS region is the transition region between resonant and deep inelastic scattering processes. The cross section is measured as a function of the four-momentum transfer squared (Q2) and the transverse and longitudinal muon momentum (pT and pk). Some discrepancies between measurements and simulations are observed. These measurements are the _rst in the world with high statistics and systematic uncertainties of less than 10%.
