Description
In the context of Quantum Gravity, we study the evolution of Schwarzschild black-holes. The superspace of the theory is restricted to a class of geometries that contains the Schwarzschild solution for different masses as well as other geometries with different topologies. We show that black-holes are topologically stable under quantum fluctuations but unstable under quantum processes of emission and absorption of gravitons. We find that the probability of emission behaves as exp <math>(-\alpha (M_f - M_i))\,\!</math>,where <math>M_i\,\!</math> and <math>M_f\,\!</math> are the masses associated to the initial and final states, respectively and <math>\alpha\,\!</math> is a positive constant of the order of 1. As the black-hole looses mass it evolves, towards a state corresponding to a black-hole of very small mass that cannot be distinguished from a pure graviton state.
