Description
The EPR spectrum of nitrosyl hemoglobin is composed of at least three components <math>(A, B\,\!</math> and <math>C)\,\!</math> with l different dependence on temperature and power level. The A component increases at low temperature <math>(7.5K \,\!</math> to <math> 30K)\,\!</math> and decreases at higher temperature. <math>B\,\!</math> component disappears at around <math>30 K\,\!</math> and is replaced by <math>C\,\!</math>. Relaxation of A follows Orbach mechanism with energy of <math>28cm^{-1}\,\!</math>. This behavior can be attributed to phonon induced changes in orientation of NO with respect to the heme plane.
