Description
A quark-diquark model of the nucleon is applied to a perturbative <math>QCD\,\!</math> description of several decays of the charmonium family: <math> \eta_{c}, \chi_{c 0}, c1, c2 \rightarrow p\bar{p}\,\!</math>. Both experimental data and theoretical considerations are used to fix the parameters of the model. Decay rates for the <math>\chi's\,\!</math> in good agreement with the existing experimental results may be obtained. The values for the decay of the <math>\eta_{c}\,\!</math> are found instead to be much smaller than the data. Our formalism provides a general framework for the computation of the decay amplitudes of any <math>^{2S +1} L_{J}, C = + 1\,\!</math>, heavy quarkonium state into hadron-antihadron. The explicit expression for the decay into two photons is also given.
