Description
The structure of <math>YCo_3\,\!</math> is of the <math>PuNi_3\,\!</math> type with three inequivalent cobalt sites in the lattice. The spin echo decay of the <math>^{59}Co\,\!</math> <math>NMR\,\!</math> at <math>43\,\!</math> MHz (18 h site) was found to have an oscillatory component, indicating an electric field gradient at the nucleus equivalent to a quadrupole splitting frequency of <math>210 \,\!</math><math> kHz\,\!</math>. No clear oscillations could be detected at the <math>NMR\,\!</math> frequencies of the <math>3b\,\!</math> and <math>6c\,\!</math> sites but a signal, attributed to nuclei in domain walls, was observed near <math>48 \,\!</math> <math>MHz\,\!</math>.
