Description
A general fit has been performed to the data on most probable fragment total kinetic energy release in fission, <math><E^{t}_{K}>\,\!</math>, for values of parameter <math>Z^{2}/A^{1}/^{3}\,\!</math> of the fissioning nucleus ranging between <math>50\,\!</math> and <math>2150\,\!</math> . The data result to be rather well fitted by an expression of the type: <math><E^{t}_{K}>\,\!</math> = <math> Z^{2} / (aA^{1/3}+ bA^{-1/3}+ cA^{-1})\,\!</math> with a <math>= 9.02, b = - 34.5\,\!</math> and <math>c = 45.9\,\!</math> (all values expressed in <math>MeV^{-1}\,\!</math>). For light fissioning systems the present result provides a trend of <math><E^{t}_{K}>\,\!</math> which gives vanishing <math><E^{t}_{K}>\,\!</math>-values for <math>Z\,\!</math> approaching zero, as predicted in liquid drop model calculations.
