Description
First-principles self-consistent Local Density calculations of the electronic structure of clusters representing <math>Sn(II) (SnO, SnF_{2}, SnS, SnSe)\,\!</math> and <math> Sn(IV) (SnO_{2}, SnF_{4})\,\!</math> crystalline compounds were performed. Values of the electron density at the <math>Sn\,\!</math> nucleus were obtained and related to measured values of the Mössbauer Isomer Shifts reported in the literature. The nuclear parameter of <math>^{119}Sn\,\!</math> derived was <math>\triangle \;R /R=(1.58 \pm 0.14) \times 10^{-4}\,\!</math>. The chemical bonding in the solids was analysed and related to the electron densities obtained.
