Description
<math>^{89}Y\,\!</math> pulsed <math>NMR\,\!</math> measurements have been performed at low temperatures in <math>(R_{x}Y_{1-x})Fe_2\,\!</math> compounds, where <math>R\,\!</math> is a heavy rare-earth <math>(Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er\,\!</math> and <math>Tm)\,\!</math> in the range <math> 0 \le \times \le 0.05\,\!</math>. The spectra were measured at <math> 4.2 K\,\!</math>, except for Dy <math>(77.4 K)\,\!</math>. The spectra were analysed in terms of direct and indirect (through common Fe neighbors) transferred <math>hf\,\!</math> interactions. The direct transferred hf field amounts to a few <math>kOe\,\!</math> per rare earth <math>1st\,\!</math> neighbor; the indirect contributions of the first two shells are smaller by a factor of ten. We have found that a model that restricts the transferred hyperfine interactions to the indirect hf field or considers the first three neighbor shells in the same way is not satisfactory to explain the changes in the hyperfine field at <math>Y\,\!</math> nuclei.
