<dd>We first discuss, for a variety of similar systems, the physical need for departure from Boltzmann-Gibbs statistical mechanics and thermodynamics. Then, we numerically discuss the infinite-range spin-1/2 Ising ferromagnet within the recently generalized statistical mechanics (canonical ensemble). Through the specific heat, we exhibit (for the first time, as far as we know, for an interacting system) that the thermodynamic limit is well defined.</dd>
