Description
We investigated the behavior of the non-truncated and truncated Efimov-Fradkin models <math>(\mathcal{L}_{int}=-\sum^{N}_{n=3}\lambda_{n}\varphi^{n})</math> at finite temperature in a generic D-dimensional flat spacetime. The thermal contribution to the renormalized mass and coupling constants are obtained in the one-loop aproximation by the use of a mix between dimensional and the Epstein zeta function analytic regularization and a modified minimal subtraction procedure. We proved that for <math>D_c (N-1)\leq D\!\,</math> there is not a temperature for which at least one of the renormalized coupling constants becomes zero, where <math>D_c(N-1)\!\,</math> is the critical spacetime dimension for the renormalized coupling constant <math>\lambda_{N-1}\!\,</math>. For <math>D_{c}(N)\leq D<D_{c}(N-1)\!\,</math> only the renormalized coupling constant <math>\lambda_{N-1}\!\,</math> becomes zero at some temperature <math>\beta^{-1}_{N-1}\!\,</math>. For <math>D<D_{c}(N)\!\,</math> the renormalized coupling constants <math>\lambda_{N-1}(\beta)\!\,</math> and <math>\lambda_{N}(\beta)\!\,</math> become zero at temperatures <math>\beta^{-1}_{N-1}\!\,</math> and <math>\beta^{-1}_{N}\!\,</math> respectivelly. In the latter situation, for temperatures <math>\beta^{-1}_{N-1}<\beta^{-1}< \beta^{-1}_{N}\!\,</math> the effective potential has a global minimum. For temperatures above <math>\beta^{-1}_{N}\!\,</math>the system can develop a first order phase transition, where the origin corresponds to a metastable vacuum. In the nontruncated model, corresponding to a non-polynomial Lagrange density, for <math>D\geq 2</math> all the coupling constants remain positive for any temperature.
