Description
<math>^{57}Fe\,\!</math> Mössbauer spectra of <math>RENi_{2}B_{2}C\,\!</math> (RE = Tb, Dy, Ho, Er) doped with 1 at. % <math> ^{57}Fe\,\!</math> show a magnetic hyperfine field <math>B_{hf}\,\!</math> at the <math>^{57}Fe\,\!</math> nucleus in <math>TbNi_{2}B_{2}C\,\!</math> for <math>T < T_N\,\!</math> <math>\sim 15K \,\!</math> and in <math>HoNi_{2}B_{2}C\,\!</math> for <math>5.5K >\,\!</math> <math>T > 4.2K.\,\!</math> No <math>B_{hf}\,\!</math> is observed in superconducting <math>DyNi_{2}B_{2}C\,\!</math> and <math>ErNi_{2}B_{2}C\,\!</math>. Since <math>TbNi_{2}B_{2}C\,\!</math> is not superconducting at all and superconductivity disappears in <math>HoNi_{2}B_{2}C\,\!</math> for <math>6K > T > 4.7K\,\!</math> (reentrant state) we have to conclude that the observed Bhf at the <math>^{57}Fe\,\!</math> nucleus, resulting from the non-collinear antiferromagnetic spin structure of the RE moments, acts as a pair-breaking field at the Ni site.
