Description
The problem of the classification of the extensions of the Virasoro algebra is discussed. It is shown that all <math>H\,\!</math>-reduced <math>\hat{\mathcal G}_{r}\,\!</math>-current algebras belong to one of the following basic algebraic structures: local quadratic <math>W\,\!</math>-algebras, rational <math>U\,\!</math>-algebras, nonlocal <math>V\,\!</math>-algebras, nonlocal quadratic <math>WV\,\!</math>-algebras and rational nonlocal <math>UV\,\!</math>-algebras. The main new features of the quantum <math>V\,\!</math>-algebras and their heighest weight representations are demonstrated on the example of the quantum <math>V_{3}^{(1,1)}\,\!</math>-algebra.
