- A classical theorem of Müntz-Szasz states that the closure of all finite linear combinations of the functions <math>1, t^{\lambda_1}, t^{\lambda_2},\cdots</math> for <math>0 <\lambda_1<\lambda_2<\lambda_3<\cdots</math> is <math>C([0,1])\,\!</math> if <math>\sum \frac{1}{\lambda_{n}}=-\infty</math> (see for instance [1]).
